Steel that looks clean is steel that was dried

Stainless steel is the first surface on the Shadazzle label, and the one most people buy the paste for: the sink, the pots, the front of the fridge. Damp sponge, a few turns on the paste, then work the foam along the brushed lines of the steel rather than across them. The marks you see on a steel sink are often dried water and old soap more than dirt, and the clay is what takes that film off.

Rinse well, then dry. Steel left to dry by itself spots again from the water, which is why the stainless steel trade guide ends every cleaning with a rinse in clean water and a dry wipe. A nanofiber cloth does that last wipe without leaving lint, and the set puts one next to a lemon tub. Keep steel wool and chloride cleaners away from stainless: the same guide warns that steel wool can leave particles that rust.

Will Shadazzle scratch your stainless steel sink?

Use light pressure with the damp sponge and work along the brushed lines of the steel. If you are unsure about a finish, try a small spot out of sight first, and keep steel wool away from stainless altogether.

How do you stop your stainless steel spotting after Shadazzle?

Rinse off all the foam and dry the steel with a clean cloth straight away. Water left to dry on steel is what leaves the spots.

Can you use Shadazzle on your fridge door?

Yes, sparingly: a little foam along the grain, a damp cloth to take it off, and a dry cloth to finish. For fingerprints alone, the damp nanofiber cloth is enough.
